Setup

Connect Nim MCP to Claude

  • Nim MCP works in Claude in your browser (claude.ai), the Claude desktop and mobile apps, and Claude Cowork.
  • There are two ways to connect Nim MCP to Claude: install the Nim plugin (recommended) or add a custom connector manually by URL.

Option A — Install plugin (recommended)

Works the same in Claude in your browser (claude.ai) and Claude Cowork — they share one plugin directory. Requires a paid Claude plan (Pro / Max / Team / Enterprise).

  1. Open Customize in the left sidebar.
  1. Click Plus button → Create Plugin → Add marketplace.
  1. Click Add from a repository.
  1. Use nim-video/skills as URL and click Sync.
  1. Click Plus button to add Nim plugin.
  1. Select Personal plugins → Nim → Connectors and click Connect.
  1. You should see the Nim authorization form. Click Approve.
  1. After install, Nim tools load automatically and plugin skills are available via “/” in the chat input.

Option B — Add custom connector manually

Use this if you can’t install plugins (e.g. the plugin is not visible in your org’s directory).

  1. Open Customize in the left sidebar.
  2. Select Connectors.
  3. Click the Plus button to add a new connector.
  4. Choose Add custom connector.
  5. Fill in the form:
    1. Name: any (e.g. Nim).
    2. URL: https://mcp.nim.video/mcp
  6. Click Add.

Click Connect to authenticate. You should see the Nim authorization form. Click Approve.

Add Nim to allowlist

Needed for both options so Claude’s sandbox can reach Nim.

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Select Capabilities.
  3. Make sure Allow network egress is on.
  4. Under Domain allowlist make sure you have *.nim.video.

Use Nim MCP

Just describe what you want to generate — Claude will pick Nim tools (models, templates, generations) automatically.

Using a reference image:

  • Claude in your browser or the Claude app — upload the image directly in the chat.
  • Claude Cowork — put the reference image in the working folder.

Check for updates

New skills are added regularly. To update,

  1. Open Connectors → Click Plus button → Browse plugins.
  1. Open Personal plugins → Click (···) button at skills → Check for updates.
